Brownwood Park Community Garden

Eco-friendly construction for sustainable gardening

Brownwood Park Community Garden

The Brownwood Park Community Garden was the very first community garden located in a City of Atlanta Park. Demand for plots was so high that after just three years, plans were in the works for an expansion. In the spring of 2011, the garden nearly doubled in size. The expansion included a retaining wall made of recycled concrete to provide a larger gardening area, trellises created from repurposed construction materials, and the planting of several fruit trees. The garden works with organizations like the East Atlanta Kids Club to help children learn about sustainable agriculture and healthy eating.
