Candler Park Brook Restoration
Welcome
to the Candler Park Brook Restoration Project. Here you will learn
about the effort to rehabilitate Candler Park Brook where it runs
through Candler Park from McClendon Ave. to South Ponce de Leon.
You will also find information and links that deal with
neighborhood conservation values and practices, a citizen's tool
box for people everywhere who think globally and act locally to
preserve the integrity of our environment. CPBR is managed
by an intergovernmental partnership with volunteers from the
Candler Park Neighborhood Organization, the Freedom Park
Conservancy, the Peavine Watershed Alliance, the Lullwater Fork
Steering Committee, Mary Lin School, and Paideia School. The
project is managed by Park Pride on behalf of the City of Atlanta
Department of Parks, Libraries and Cultural Affairs.

Announcing Candler Park Brook Update
May 10: The contractor for the work, Heavy Construction Inc. of Marietta, gave a presentation at the Candler Park Neighborhood Organization meeting April 17 with respect to construction time lines and safety. Construction has commenced, starting with the realignment and replacement of existing storm sewer pipes that will direct water into the new natural stream channel. The current plan is to work on the north half first, then the south half, followed by planting of some native plants in cooler weather this fall. Total construction time frame is estimated to be around 12 weeks. During construction, holes 4,5 and 6 of the Candler Golf Course will be closed. Park users are asked to respect the protective orange safety fencing and to stay away from the work areas |
